Susan Dzbanko
Interim Director, Arizona Department of Homeland Security


Susan Dzbanko was appointed by Governor Hobbs as the Interim Director of the Arizona Department of Homeland Security in March of 2023.

Interim Director Dzbanko also serves as the Deputy Director of Border Security and Grant Administration for the Arizona Department of Homeland Security. Ms. Dzbanko began her career in the Department in September, 2004 as the Planning Coordinator. She has held various positions ranging from Finance Specialist to Assistant Director before being appointed as Deputy Director in April 2021.

During her tenure at the Department Ms. Dzbanko has successfully managed over $500M in federal homeland security grants and has instituted several grant management best practices. She has been recognized by leadership within the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (USDHS) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) as a leader in the field of grant management. She has spent the past 18 years developing excellent working relationships with federal and state law enforcement, fire service and emergency management personnel.

Ms. Dzbanko was born in Flushing, NY and now resides in Phoenix. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Northern Arizona University.
